Richmond unites to welcome the Eagles

Texas of course, Tennessee and Tasman.

Onlookers of the Main Street Parade which kicked off the Stars N Stripes Block Party could easily have been fooled into thinking Tasman had acceded to the Union as Richmond was transformed into an ocean of red, white and blue and all things American.

The marching band led the procession down Queen St. followed by classic American cars and bikes, Rock n Roll dancers, cheerleaders and hundreds of cheering scholl children decked out in stars and stripes, interspersed with members from the Eagles RWC team.

Shuttersport were there to catch the parade and some of the entertainment that ensued.

The afternoon festivities continue, jam packed full of classic mall entertainment, exhibitions and competitions including American Idol (Richmnod Mall) and The Great Mall of American Eating Competition where contestants have to stuff down hot dogs and cream pies.

As the sun sets, an evening of dancing, fine foods and mingling will unfold with a quintessential kiwi picnic featuring the best of local fare will unfold before dancing the night away with ‘The American Invasion’ as they play your favorite American rock n roll songs.
