Port Nelson Blokes Day Out

Nigel Burgess is getting back to his best and now has 2012 "bragging rights" as Port Nelson Blokes Day Out champion.
Nigel Burgess starts the biking leg
Burgess won the event in 2009 but Jonathan Linyard and Richard Ussher have stood in his way since. Yesterday though, no one looked likely to beat him, after a strong five-kilometre run Burgess had set himself up with a 30-second lead which he maintained back up the Maitai Valley on his bike and then in the pool.
Ed Rimmer was out on his own chasing and did a valiant job but the gap was too big. Linyard, looking jaded, was next holding out Alan Bryson and Frankie Kersten.
In the walking section, Ross Mitchell, winner of last weekend's Kaiteriteri Gold 10km, continued his good form. Allan Palmer and Hugh Stark were the next two to finish.
Sean Tremlett aka 'The Boy Wonder'
Sean Tremlett, dressed as Robin was the sole Cheer up your Charity costume wearer and by doing so earned Ronald McDonald House $200. The other challenges drew healthy entry numbers, NBS Workmates Walk winners being Port Nelson's Hugh Stark and Digby Kynaston.
Garry Clarke and Matt Newberry, representing Heslops had the legs over the rest in the Run. Father and Son, Charlie and Hayden Squance (run) and Ryan and Paul Morris (walk), are the new Nelson Bays Insurance Brokers Generation Challenge winners.
