The Sujon Clifton Boxing Gym travelled south to Dunedin to compete in the Otago Boxing Association annual tournament.

Natalie Stuart coming in at under 69kg was against the heavier fighter from Otago, Siraya Wilson who was the more experienced of the two with 11 bouts compared to the Nelson fighters 4 bouts.

Wilson came out throwing some big punches right from the start and managed to connect with an excellent left hook that stunned Stuart and earned her an eight count.Stuart managed to recover enough to clear her head and focus on her on game plan and slowly started to use her longer reach to the best advantage, also Stuarts superior fitness and excellent footwork helped her get herself into a position were she could get some great straight punches to hit her target, and slowly out pointed her competition to win the fight 25-19.

Coach Alan Dickey was very pleased with the way Stuart had handled Wilson and    his risk of putting Stuart up a class to continue her development in Boxing had paid off.

Sujon Clifton Boxing Gyms other fighter Marcus Jones who was fighting in the under 60kg open cadet division was all ready to go against Meshach Reynolds from the NZ Fight and Fitness Boxing Gym in Otago, but just before the fight was ready to start the officials checking the books discovered that Reynolds had not renewed his registration and medical checks so refused to let him box.

The next tournament for the Sujon Clifton Boxing team is the Auckland Champs on 21st of July.
